Seeing this, Prophet Muhammad reached out his hand and turned his cousin’s face away.

He didn’t tell the woman to cover her face.

He didn’t tell her to change her clothing.

He didn’t tell her that her appearance was too tempting or indecent.

He averted his cousin’s impolite stare.

A lot of you seem to be confused as to what’s going on. I got upset over racism, rape culture, misognoir, and a whole bunch of other fucked up shit in this movie made by a Jewish man. Someone informed me he was Jewish and I assumed he was white. He’s not. And now several of you have gotten distracted by figuring out what he actually is which doesn’t matter because he’s a racist. Jewish people can be racist just like Christians and everybody else on the planet. 

Now there are subsequent arguments about Black Jews and a bunch of Jewish people are calling me anti-semitic and acting like antisemitism is more important by refusing to discuss Black Jews or to discuss the racism of the film. Also some people flipped out when I said the bible characters were black because apparently, even though middle east is is right next to Africa and that we are talking about the Africa’s racial makeup thousands of years ago. 

And people are telling me that it’s not my place to talk about the racism this man is perpetuating. And it’s out of line for me to bring up the fact that he’s Jewish which I brought up because it allows for the discussion of  the specific oppression Black Jews face because of anti-black racism and anti-Semitism. I also brought it up because people always talk about how racist Christianity is even though people of other faith’s have perpetuated anti black racism. I felt it was important to point out that non-Black Jewish people perpetuate racism just as much as non-Black Christians do. But that discussion isn’t worth having because “you’re all Jewish brethren.” And I’m also not qualified to speak about Black Jews because I’m not Jewish, but you think you’re qualified to use the “we’re all Jewish don’t tokenize Black Jews by mentioning their struggle arugment” when you’re not Black and have never bothered with Black Jews. I wanted to acknowledge both oppressions but don’t want to do that. I wanted to acknowledge that non-Black people of all religions are anti black as fuck and how that affects the religious life of Black people. 

Whatever.

You did not bring up his Jewishness to make the VERY VALID point that ethnic minorities and religious minorities are just as able to engage in anti-blackness as white people, which is a fact that has been acknowledged by EVERY JEWISH REBLOGGER on this issue, myself included.

You spat out one damn line that used a well-entrenched anti-Semitic trope about Jews in Hollywood.

You were called out for it.

And AFTER THAT you went “BUT WHAT ABOUT BLACK JEWS THO” and shoved your gentile ass into conversations about Jewish history and ethnic identity that you have no place in, made bullshit claims about an entire subset of Jewish people, and worse of all, tokenized the shit out of Black Jews in an attempt to cover your own ass. You were then called out by Jews of all spectrums, including Jews of Colour, who did not appreciate your bullshit, as well as black gentiles who noted that your bullshit was…. bullshit.

My people do not exist to be tokenized. Don’t pretend you give a shit about Jews of any sort when you only mention them in order to get out of taking responsibility for your own shit.

You were not talking about shadeism in the Jewish community, you were tokenizing Jews of Colour, specifically Black Jews. Which is anti-Semitic behavior on your part. This isn’t a “we are all brethren argument,” this is a “you don’t get to tokenize groups of Jews to excuse your anti-Semitism argument.”

I don’t know how many times I need to say that I have no idea what Hollywood stereotype you are talking about. What do Jews have to do with Hollywood at all? I was definitely talking about and thinking about religion, racism, and media when I made that comment. You’re really just mad that I pointed out he was Jewish after someone pointed it out to me even though it was clear that I was upset by his racism and his racist project and not his Jewish identity.  

I enjoy casual-isms and generally like the blog, but it’s time to admit you done fucked up and apologize for your offensive wording. This is a fake ass “I’m sorry you were offended” apology. Instead of insisting that other people have misunderstood you just accept that you miscommunicated and apologize without making any exceptions. Own up and move on.
